Online Learning and Motivational Strategies in the Backdrop of COVID-19: An EFL Perspective on Teachers and Students’ Perceptions at Tertiary Level in Pakistan

Keeping in view the significant role of E-Learning during COVID-19 and psychological issues students teachers resulting from abrupt shift teaching-learning mode to online, it is imperative have a good understanding motivational strategies being employed EFL classes this period. The present research descriptive designed explore perceptions Pakistani learners about used classrooms emergency remote learning. frameworks Dornyei Csize´s model Motivation context (1998) for Computer Assisted Language Learning via Videoconferencing by Davies (2008) been adopted. Following pragmatic paradigm, mixed-method study was data collected through an online survey one hundred interviews five university-level teachers. findings revealed that were more inclined adopt favor student-centered approach keep motivated, maintaining cooperative environment, using CALL’s Web-based extracting students’ responses. Students, on other hand, found be reluctant take initiative; reason may trauma caused quarantine period first wave COVID-19. implications will instill new insight researchers language consider scenario Pandemic as blessing disguise, acting foundation stone towards digital advancement, general E-EFL Particular.
